The Mirror Test: Leading Starts with Looking Within

Do you know who is the hardest person to lead on your team?
It was a challenging realisation, but I've learned over the years that the hardest person to lead is the one looking back at me in the mirror every morning.
Authentic leadership begins long before we guide others; it starts with how we manage ourselves: our attitude, our reactions, and our willingness to grow.
John Maxwell calls this the Law of the Lid: the level of our leadership determines the level of our team's success. When I grow, my team grows. When I stall, they stall. It's a simple law that I've seen play out time and again.
So this week, instead of asking "How can I get my team to change?", I'm asking, "Where do I need to change first?" Because leadership starts with us, it's about transforming ourselves so we can serve them better.
💭 Reflection: What's one small area where you could lead yourself better this week?
